About Our Youth Program...
East Towne Ballrooms has a large student body of junior ballroom dancer’s ranging in ages from 4 to 18. East Towne has currently over 40 pre-teens and juniors involved in this fantastic activity for children. All of the teachers involved with the program take great pride and responsibility in teaching these young dancers in a positive and creative environment. What children take away from their lessons is invaluable and many of the benefits will last them a lifetime. Several of our Juniors have gone on now to start professional careers as instructors and competitors at East Towne and other parts of the country. And others are now nationally ranked adult amateur competitors. However, whether a Junior pursues dancing as a competitor or a profession isn't our primary focus. Our first concern is always that through leadership and example they learn social skills, creativity, sportsmanship and most of all, have fun learning.
About our scholarship efforts...
The Scholarship Program at East Towne came about and grew to it’s present size for a number of reasons. First we felt it important to recognize the efforts and hard work of our adult and junior students alike. Also, we recognize that without our great students we wouldn't be here and it is our way of saying thank you for your support. It is additionally important to us that as the world of Dance Sport continues to grow that we are active in encouraging parents involvement with introducing their children to this exciting activity.
Last year at our local “Showcase” performances we have presented $4000.00 in adult and junior scholarships, with an additional $4000.00 given during the course of the year. Annually, our students win scholarship funds totaling several thousand dollars at regional and national competitions.
